1967 Ford Fairlane 500 Hardtop
Owner: Juan Quinones

This 1967 Fairlane 500 2-Door Hardtop is slowly becoming a bit of a sleeper sporting some suspension and horsepower upgrades and a few more coming soon. A set of Ford 12-Slot GT Wheels with Good Year Eagle II tires keep the stock car look. All original trim is in great shape and the original interior is in like new condition.

The car was purchased in 2006 with 29K undocumented miles and in 2008 a full frame on cosmetic restoration was done and the 289 was replaced with a 302. The car was sprayed with custom 2-stage PPG paint to match the original "Night Mist Blue" color. The 302 block was hot tanked, magnafluxed, honed and decked. A Crane Cam was added along with an Edelbrock Performer Manifold and 600 cfm carburetor with a ½ inch Trans Dapt Performance Swirl Torque Spacer. For exhaust, Flowtech long tube headers, 2.5 inch dual exhaust with an X-Pipe and Flowmaster mufflers. The C4 3-speed auto transmission was rebuilt, a Transgo Performance reprogramming shift kit was added and a Hayden Transmission Cooler along with a set of Crites sub-frame connector bars. The rear recently received a Hiedts 4-Link kit braced to a 31-spline Ford 8.8 with 3.73 gears and a Traction-Lok differential with disc brakes.

The car so far has caught a lot of attention at car show events and even earned an "Honorable Mention" trophy at the 2012 "Downtown Disney Car Masters Weekend" in Orlando, FL among 125 cars where one of the judges was Chip Foose.

Currently the engine is waiting for a set of GT-40 heads with 3 angle valve job, new seals and springs to match the cam to come back from the shop. When the engine is done the shop says it should have a little over 300 horsepower which will make for a fun cruiser since the original 289 only had around 200 horsepower. Plans for this summer are to install a Fatman strut, rack and pinion IFS conversion kit with disc brakes.

The car drives and handles great and with the added Fatman conversion it should drive like a modern car. I enjoy taking it to car shows and events or cruising around on weekends when the weather is nice. Living in Central Florida makes it fun to own a car like this; there's a car show or gathering somewhere every weekend all year round, weather permitting.

Looking forward to enjoying the new website, I had been a fan of Woody's since 2006 when I purchased the Fairlane through his site from a fellow in Upstate New York. I flew up and drove the car down here to Florida... what a fun trip, thumbs up the whole trip down. Wishing him well in his retirement.
